| With regard to gender-thematics, the representation of young women in Paul Boldt's anthology "Young horses!Young horses!" (1914) and in the famous weekly "Die Aktion", outdistances other lyrics of the early Berlin expressionism. Neither is there to be found that moral disregard of whores, which wasn't rare even in expressionsitic literature, nor the sentimental adoration of them as victims of bourgeois double-standards. Moreover, with all his apocalyptic visions, which he had in common with many authors of his generation, Boldt was faszinated by the seductive power of the then modern metropolis of Berlin, The characterizations of whores and city girls in boldt's poems show various analogies with expressionistic painting and with Cubist experiments with female anatomy. In "Grown-up girls" his "gender-hym" so to speak, bildt unveils his skill to interwave in a net of sonnets term s and metonymies for the female shape, for instance, by analogies and sudden perspective-changes.
