Katherine V.Forrest's feminist crime novels feature a lesbian policewoman (Kate Delafield). as a detective, Kate Delafield brings to police work seriousness. thoroughness, and emathy with women. Women like and trust this strong women. Kate is superior to her male colleagues, especially her partner. But she adopts male attitudes sometimes. As a lesbian, she also tends to take on a male role in a couple. But the death of her lover has made of her essentially a loner, like so many fiction detectives, male or female. the books argue strongly against discrimination against homosexuals and their having to hide their sexual preference. Kate Delafield deals with feminist issues in the course of her enquiries: sexual harassment, child molestation, prostitution. She is an unusual woman in an "alien profession" | |
