| The relationship between the writer Elisabeth Langgässer and her daughter Cordelia Edvardson was profoundly marked and disrupted by the Nazis' persecution of the Jews. Between the daughter's deportation to Terezin in March 1944 and from there to Auschwitz, and her mother's death in 1950, both women met only briefly in the fall of 1949. Their controversies resulting from the disturbed mother-daughter relationship did not surface in conversations, but rather found expression in different literary genres; yet without enabling both women to reach one another truly. | |
