| The erosion of the image of the traditional father and the quest for "new fathers" are both a symptom of a general social trend resulting in an extensive shift of some normative and factual conditions of family life. However, the ideal concepts of old or new fathers as patterns of behaviour mark just one point of view. The other one is represented by structural obligations, requirements and limits of behaviour, which have changed and, in addition by indivual dispostions, biographical developed taken-for-granted patterns of behaviour as well as normative concepts, calculations and resources of life-construction as a whole.
